Victoria, BC Award-Winning photographer Melissa Welsh has been creating fine-art photographs for almost twenty years. Her inspiration has always come from the natural world and her work is meant to bring a sense of wonder and calmness to the viewer. Melissa’s images are created along side her many adventures; climbing mountaintops, hiking through river valleys and traveling around the world.
Melissa’s fine art is available for purchase in limited and open editions on award-winning 100% cotton fine-art canvas. Sizes range from 24″ to 60″ at the longest.
In 2013, she won a national award for Wishing for Wind, named Best Pictorial Photograph in Canada, then went on to represent Canada at the World Photographic Cup. Melissa’s work has been described as having a strong sense of composition and exceptional tonal range in her black and white images. Wishing for Wind is an open edition and is available in 3 sizes 24″, 36″ and 60″ in print or canvas.
Her best selling photograph is Weather Roots which is available in 3 sizes (24″, 30″ and 36″) in a limited edition of 50 each.
Weathered Roots was created on a hiking trip in Bryce Canyon in 2005. The first copy sold in Nelson, BC on the opening night of Melissa’s gallery.
