When my brother stepped onto the ice for a hockey game in the local men’s league a couple years ago, he had no idea he’d end up marrying one of the players.
Two weeks ago, I had the honour of photographing Sean and Evelyn’s wedding out at Long Beach Lodge in Tofino. The two exchanged vows on the beach in front of friends, family and the Pacific Ocean. Here’s a quick peak with some of my favourite photos from the day, along with a little Q&A with the couple.
Where did you find the dress? Who was the designer?
The dress was purchased and altered at Champagne & Lace in Abbotsford. The designer was Alfred Sung.
Who picked out Sean’s Tux?
We both picked out the tux together (most of the credit to Evelyn!). We thought the bow tie would be a nice classic touch.
Why did you pick Tofino?
We wanted a location that represented the west coast, where we could have a small intimate gathering of our closest friends and family. And of course, we wanted to get married on the beach.
Whose idea was it to bring hockey jerseys and sticks?
We met playing hockey and so we thought it would be a fun picture to represent how we met.
Do you have any funny memories from the day?
Yes, Evelyn laughing during the wedding vows because the ring was stuck on my finger and Zoe throwing flower pedals into the wind and hitting Jeremiah in the face.
Did you go on a honeymoon?
Yes we did – we stayed on the beach at Waikiki for a week enjoying more beaches and sunshine!
