Vancouver Island Adventure

When some of your favorite people in the whole world live 4000km away…it’s super important to plan an adventure every couple of years.

2018 was one of those years, and this time, the Ritz family flew to BC for some island time. We met in Cowichan Lake and spent 7 days on our own “loop” trip stopping at Nitnat Lake, Pacheena Bay and Rathtrevor before finishing up in Victoria.

Here’s a few of the highlights…Enjoy!

The driftwood at Nitnat Rec Site was the stuff dreams are made of. The kids could have played for days…

Trees!

Firewood!

Going to hike the West Coast Trail.

Not the whole thing…

I climbed down these ladders about 15 years ago when I finished the West Coast Trail in 4.5 days. Kinda cool climbing back up with my girl on my back…

Riding Rhonda on the beach…

You do you…

Summer time!

No complaints.

Love these girls.

Hmmmm?

Get him!

I was pretty happy to have found two pieces of driftwood far enough apart to hang the hammock. It’s like winning the beach-camping lottery. Soooo happy!

Who needs a motor boat???

Love this…

Checkin’ out the caves across the way.

Going to collect the crab pot. Fingers crossed!

A serious game of wild life trivia.

Good lookin’ family!

Funny kids.

More sillies.

Big trees in Cathedral Grove.

Can you see the top?

Morning @ Rathtrevor.

Dan & Coffee.

I’d love to have heard the conversation…

Pajama walk.

the boys…

Those were some dusty logging roads!

Detangling hair…

All cleaned up and time to go. Until next time!

And then I drove to Nelson by myself with the kids…but that’s another story!
