At the Annual Awards Banquet of the Professional Photographers of Canada – British Columbia (PPOC-BC), held at the Anvil Centre in New Westminister, British Columbia, Melissa Welsh, a professional photographer from Victoria, BC, received the Best in Class award for her image ‘A Peaceful Parade’ in the Portrait 1 or 2 Persons class.
“I saw this image many months before I had the opportunity to create it. That particular evening in Esquimalt, the clouds were just perfect and I knew I was going to be able to create something special. Thank you to my clients Naomi and Patrick for trusting my creative vision!”
Melissa had 3 images accepted and exhibited in the Provincial Image Salon, that was judged by a panel of master photographers from across the province. Acceptance into the salon is an indication of the makers’ ability to produce outstanding images for their clientele. It also earns the maker merits toward several designations offered to PPOC-BC members, including the prestigious PPOC-BC Fellowship designation.
The competition features entries from across the province in twenty different classes, including press, portrait, architecture and fashion. Welsh said: “I am honoured that my photograph was selected amongst so many inspiring entries. The entire salon really demonstrates the exceptional skill and quality that professionals bring to the medium of photography.”
