Melissa Welsh, a local National Award-Winning Photographer, will showcase an exclusive series of her fine artworks at her downtown studio on December 2nd. The wine and cheese party will begin at 5:00pm Friday night and will include a meet and greet with the photographer herself.
Yosemite: Seduced by a Landscape is a series of work captured during Melissa’s attendance at a photographic retreat in Yosemite National Park, California in October 2016. The character of the landscape, and in particular the iconic Half Dome Mountain sparked an obsession that she was instantly captivated by.
“Within hours of exploring the park, I knew this would be my first of many trips. It’s hard to put into words my connection with the landscape. I hope you will experience it through my photographs.”
From studying Half Dome as a whole to macro landscapes, Seduced by a Landscape is the beginning of a long-term relationship between an artist and a stunning wilderness full of artistic possibility.
Melissa studied photography in London, Ontario, and has since built a career in commercial, portrait and fine art photography. She is a fun, free-spirited individual with a deep love for adventure. Her work can be found in private collections around the world as well as in regional, national and international publications.
Everyone is invited to Melissa’s launch party at Melissa Welsh Photography, 604 Yates Street in Victoria on Friday, December 2nd, 2016 starting at 5:00 pm.
